Emma Jacobs Textiles & Teaser

Ages ago I was blessed to collaborate with a really talented team of creatives - for the Androgyny photo shoot I created in Deal Snooker Hall.
Emma Jacobs, student of Chelsea Art University, was in charge of styling.
She is also a textile designer!
How awesome.
(Not to mention she has modelled for me too!? Girl of many talents.)

Here is a little peak at her work, which she composed from photo's from the shoot. The rest you can check out on her BLOG.

Also, I shot the background for my penultimate deadly sin "greed" today: here's a peak at the background!

Latest News

If you regularly take a glance at what's going on with my photography at the moment, you'll have noticed I've been quite quiet! Not many blog posts, photo posts, etc etc.

WELL.

Firstly I've been ill.
(Somebody please, reveal your violin.)
And secondly because of contracts I'm under, I can't reveal at least 8 different shoots that I've done, under the wraps news and other things!
This includes the stuff I've been doing for PhotoTraining4U.

BUT!

Wait for it..
By Mid-March the 7 Deadly Sins work I've been working on would've been finished, and I'll be back onto testing :)
God has really helped things fall into place though.
For example, as I've already posted I work for my local church (St Georges), I've been doing a lot of things with the youth & the sung worship team! (Sung worship is singing as a form of worship to God!) So my time has really been blessed, in that I am still busy.
Recently I met an old friend who has been in an opposing position: where he was unemployed, and just didn't have anything going on at the time - I'm just thankful that I'm not in a season like that lately.

So, March is looking exciting.

Will keep you posted!

Christening

This morning I photographed the ceremonial part of a Christening! Poor lad had no idea what was going on bless him! It was cute though.
Hated having to leave church early though, sad times.

Relaxing.

This isn't "official" work or a set of photographs I planned to do really: but was just a play around with some of my friends today! So thought I'd share them with you :)

Benjamin Jason Hulme - Portrait Session

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
I don't know why I put that in capitals.
Cos' I'm a bitter twisted lonely single person...
Kidding, just the end bit.. I hope..

Today I had a portrait shoot with a close friend of mine: Ben Hulme!

My "You." series on my website, if you don't know, is a collection of portraits I have shot and constantly add to through portrait sessions: as opposed to my main specialism, fashion photography, this folder contains portraits of "Normal people".
During this shoot I was using diffused flash & reflectors: at times I positioned the flash to go through two different materials before it landed on Ben's face, just so I could achieve the soft lighting I desired.

Here are the three finals from the shoot with Ben today! Two of which are on my website.

Self portraits.

Yesterday as you know I recorded my first ever video blog!
What did you think of it?
Anyway, after the video I took some self portraits.
Here are a couple of them!
Yes, it's a bit pose-y, but the light made my jaw line look ENORMOUS.

Matthew: 11:28-30 - Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

FIRST EVER VIDEO BLOG!!!

You have no idea how embarrassing it was to make this here video blog.
I have realised HOW often I say the word "Umm" - so I am definitely going to try and put a stop to this. (I'm so serious right now.) ..
I also took a few self portraits after the video to make myself feel better about the frequently used word "Umm".
SO I'll post them tomorrow!
Again, let me know what you thought of the video :)

Laura & Jacob Ball - Wedding

In November I shot a wedding for a lovely couple of friends - Laura Shrimpton & Jacob Ball (She's now a 'Ball' if you hadn't put 2 & 2 together..)

Here is a small selection of their day!
It was a gorgeous day, gorgeous couple, really good fun! And they are really pleased about the photo's too! Which is always great.

Recently we arranged the style of album they would like in their package, so that is my next step in the settled deal we arranged.

Anyway, hope you like the photo's, let me know your thoughs? tomkeenanphotography@hotmail.co.uk

Latest Research - Inspiration

Recently I have been sorting out my business & next steps to take - during this I have been researching for inspiration on the next series I'll set out to do.
If you've seen my website recently you'll have seen I have created an album called "You." - this album consists of portraits I have shot from commission (The reason I named the album "You." is to highlight the fact that You could be in this album!).

But anyway, with fashion photography, these are some of the images I've been inspired by recently.
There are some amazing photographers out there, and I really encourage any budding photographers to check out the artists on "The Framed Awards" - the standard is insanely high, and it really gives you an idea of who is doing well in the industry at the moment. Most of the shots in this research are from artists on there.

Seems like a whole other world sometimes.

MBD:10 Looks Sexy.

Recently I purchased the MBD:10 from the company "Mifsuds" and my camera is now ready for ANY shoot ANY time ANY PLACE!!!
...
Except if it's underwater.
That wouldn't work.

(This is the battery pack extension that sits on the bottom of the camera - you can also, in portrait mode, have the ability to use a second shutter release button so you're not twisting your wrist round in a gammy angle.)

So here is a corny little photograph I took on my phone.

Will be recording my FIRST ever video blog tomorrow!

How embarrassing...

What do you think of the new look of my blog then?

Aaron Smith - Actor

SO, a couple of days ago I was able to try out my brand new studio backdrop gear:
In the next couple of months I'm going to be sorting myself out with STUDIO SPACE!
Happy days.
Praise GOD.
So, to throw myself into the deep end, I thought I would use the new gear for a commission of upcoming actor Aaron Smith.
Without an assistant the backdrop was just about do-able, but did prove difficult at times. Only took me half an hour though!
Was using lastolite backdrop gear (when I next use it, I'll take a set shot of it to show you what it looks like).

Client, Aaron, was chuffed with the photo's.
Here they are!
Watch out for him in the future.
